220731-N-DW158-1022 PHILIPPINE SEA (July 31, 2022) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Higgins (DDG 76) steams ahead of The Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE 7) as it prepares to conduct a replenishment-at-sea with the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in the Philippine Sea, July 31. During the evolution, Carl Brashear transported cargo and ammunition to Ronald Reagan via connected and vertical replenishment. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
