Steven Djoumi, a radio operator with Detachment 18, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, tests his radio signal aboard the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 2, 2022. Communication between ground units and the LHA-7 is paramount to successfully achieving mission success. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
