The fragment of a suspected impeller (left) that caused the nearly 10-foot-long rupture of a 14-inch PVC water main, which caused wide-spread water loss across NAS Lemoore. Also, a fragment of the ruptured PVC pipe can be seen on the right.
Within two hours, a team of Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) professionals was able to isolate the broken line and restore water pressure to the 5,000 base residents. The PWD team worked tirelessly over the next seven days to make the necessary - but very technical repairs - restoring water service on Saturday, July 30.
