Retired Command Sgt. Maj. James K. Bodecker was awarded the Purple Heart March 20, 2006, after being shot by a sniper in Ramadi, Iraq, February 17, 2006. Bodecker's unit, 1/506 Infantry, 4th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was deployed to Combat Outpost Corregidor, Ramadi, Iraq.
