SCHRIEVER SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The 2nd Space Operations Squadron 2 (SOPS) conducted its change of command ceremony at Schriever SFB, Colorado 6 July, 2022. During the ceremony, officiated by Space Delta 8 Commander, U.S. Space Force (USSF) Colonel Matthew Holston, outgoing USSF Lt Col Michael Schriever relinquished command of the squadron to USSF Lt Col Robert Wray. As the new commander, Wray now assumes the responsibility of overseeing the daily operations of a unit whose mission is to operate the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite constellation, which provides global navigation, time transfer, and nuclear detonation detection.
