U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Timothy Babcock, Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major from 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, consoles family members of Medal of Honor recipient Pfc. Robert E. Simanek at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan, on Aug. 12, 2022. Simanek displayed extreme courage and unselfishness on a patrol during the Korean War as he threw himself on top of a grenade to save his fellow Marines from serious injury or even death. Simanek was gravely injured by his heroic actions, but his bravery inspired those who observed him. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Juan Diaz)
