The Assistant Secretary for Veterans' Employment and Training Service, James D. Rodriguez spoke at the 123rd VFW National Convention in Kansas City, MO. The ASVET was one of three speakers during the “Update on Federal Benefits and Services for Veterans" where he shared a bit about his VETS team.
More than 2,800 federal and state staff, contractors, and grantees serve more than 331,000 veterans and military spouses across all agency programs.
Six Regions, overseas installations, Regional Veteran Employment Coordinators.
We fund 1500 veteran reps at American Job Centers nationally.
We have 400 contractors providing employment workshops at over 200 installations worldwide to nearly 200K transitioning service members annually.
More than 150 grantees supporting our Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.
The ASVET then went to visit the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Kansas City Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Center to tour their training facility and speak with staff and 2 veteran students using their GI Bill to become electricians.
