U.S. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, provide security as a SH-60 Sea Hawk assigned to USS Tripoli (LHA 7) provides cover during a visit, board, search, and seizure exercise aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 17, 2022. Marines and Sailors aboard LPD 18 provided oversight and command and control during the VBSS drill. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region.
