U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Paul Hasenfus, a CH-53E crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, writes down serials of Marines aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion during a helicopter raid exercise above the Philippine Sea, Aug. 16, 2022. Hasenfus is a native of Plymouth, Massachusetts. The exercise trained Marines to secure an objective from a simulated oppositional force. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
