U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Destine Holmessewell, an administrative specialist from Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, gets sprayed with oleoresin capsicum during security augmentation force (SAF) training at MCAS Miramar, California, Aug. 24, 2022. After getting sprayed, the Marines run through a course consisting of reporting procedures, self-defense, detainment procedures, and deterring potential threats. SAF plays a pivotal role in the protection of MCAS Miramar and 3rd MAW personnel, aircraft, and assets, reinforcing the teamwork and cooperation between the two commands and enabling 3rd MAW to provide aviation support to I Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Air Ground Task Force operations.
