GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Aug. 24, 2022) Rear Adm. Pete Garvin, right, commander, Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), talks with Navy special operations candidates after they completed a 3-mile run at Center for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Diving (CEODD) in Great Lakes, Illinois, Aug. 24, 2022. The learning site runs two courses of instruction for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), Navy diver (ND) and diving medical technician (DMT) candidates. The 18-day preparatory course is designed to prepare Sailors for EOD and ND “A” schools by providing training and mentoring in entry-level aquatic adaptability and physical and mental conditioning. The 22-day Assessment and Selection Course is designed to prepare the most qualified EOD and ND candidates for a career in the Navy’s special operations community. As the owner of the Force Development pillar within MyNavy HR, Garvin leads the NETC mission to recruit, train and deliver those who serve the nation, taking them from “street to fleet” by transforming civilians into highly skilled, operational and combat ready warfighters.
