Army National Guard officer candidates, enrolled in the Washington Army National Guard’s 205th Regimental Training Institute Officer Candidate School Phase III, execute movement to contact missions on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., July 22, 2022. The candidates were faced with unexpected variables during the training, such as responding to simulated casualties and handling enemy prisoners of war. By conducting missions first as a squad, then as a platoon, candidates develop the confidence and leadership skills they need to make critical decisions under stressful circumstances.
