220821-N-PC065-1432 RIGA, Latvia (Aug. 21, 2022) – U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) and U.S. Marines attached to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) pose with Ukrainian children and chaperones in Arlington’s well deck during a scheduled port visit in Riga, Latvia, Aug. 21, 2022. The National Defense and Patriotic Foundation (NAMEJS) in Latvia hosted a camp for children of Ukrainian soldiers and coordinated the visit with the Arlington. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd MEU, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
