Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Michael Fuzie, of Modesto, Calif., supports an airborne reconnaissance mission from the back of an MH-60R Seahawk helicopter, assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike squadron (HSM) 35, Aug. 19. 2022. An HSM-35 detachment is embarked aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Oakland (LCS 24) in support of the Oceania Maritime Support Initiative, a secretary of defense program leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard’s maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operations in Oceania.
