A U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker, with the 914th Air Refueling Wing, New York, refuels an F-15E Strike Eagle with the 335th Fighter Squadron, North Carolina, August 31, 2022 over southeastern United States. The F-15E was the first U.S. operational aircraft whose engines’ thrust exceeded the plane’s loaded weight, permitting it to accelerate even while in vertical climb.
