An F-35A Lightning from 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, moves away from a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 350th Air Refueling Wing at McConnell AFB, Kansas, after being refueled Aug. 23, 2022, over Michigan. The F-35A is the Air Force’s latest fifth-generation fighter. It will replace the U.S. Air Force’s aging fleet of 16 Fighting Falcons and A-10 Thunderbolt IIs.
