220601-N-YG104-0011 PEARL HARBOR (June 01, 2022) The USS Arizona memorial is a resting place for many who were killed on the attack of Pearl Harbor on December 07, 1941. U.S. Pacific Fleet Sailor of the Year nominees paid homage to them during a barge tour to the USS Arizona Memorial. Sailors visited memorials to pay respects and honor naval history and heritage during the 2022 U.S. Pacific Fleet Sailor of the Year (SOY) week. The SOY program, established in 1972, recognizes those who exemplify a warfighting spirit, the Navy’s core values, and a deep commitment to their commands and communities.
