Norfolk (September 20, 2022) Retired U.S Army Chief Warrant Officer Five Phillip Brashear speaks to Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region as part of the 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days Event. The event was hosted by the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and allowed selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin. CW5 Brashear served in the U.S. Navy in an enlisted capacity. He later joined the Virginia Army National Guard where he became a Warrant Officer Pilot in 1991. He eventually retired from the U.S. Army Reserve. CW5 Brashear was appointed as an Honorary Navy Chief Petty Officer by Master Chief Petty officer (MCPON) of the Navy Russell Smith in July 2022 for his relentless dedication to the U.S. Navy. CW5 Brashear is the third son of the late Master Chief Carl Brashear, the subject of the Hollywood movie, ‘Men of Honor.” Through his father’s legendary American Military Hero status, Phillip has had the opportunity to share his dad’s story on numerous occasions.
