U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Michael Lopez, an assaultman with Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit fast ropes out of a MV-22 Osprey with Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Rein.) to conduct fast roping drills aboard Amphibious Assault Ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), in the Philippine Sea, Sept. 24, 2022. The fast rope, shooting drill combo prepares Marines for inserting to a contested area. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
