Airman 1st Class Lillian Oliver, a 97th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron boom operator, stands in the rear-side emergency exit door of a KC-135 Stratotanker during a fire rescue training course at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, Sept. 29, 2022. Flight crew members from the 97th EARS trained Turkish firefighters on a variety of aircraft functions to enhance interoperability with U.S. aircrews. This training ensures 39th Civil Engineer Squadron Turkish firefighters can assist in emergency situations enabling the 97th EARS to provide support to allied and coalition partner aircraft and defend NATO’s southern flank.
