Cipriani served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander in South Korea from 1970 to 1972 and taught South Korean Soldiers about American weapons as an instructor with the Korean Augmentation to the United States Army (KATUSA) program. The parade celebrated Italian American culture, along with a range of diverse cultures throughout the parade.
