VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Oct. 13, 2022) – A Sailor aboard the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) throws a messenger line to the pier as the ship returns to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story after a deployment with the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), Oct. 13. More than 4,000 Sailors and Marines assigned to the Kearsarge ARG supported a wide range of interoperability opportunities and exercises across the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations increasing combat readiness and crisis response capabilities while strengthening relationships with both NATO Allies and partners.
