221018-N-LZ409-1037 LIHUE, HI (Oct. 18, 2022) — Molly Bache, program manager at Save our Shearwaters, speaks to students from Island School about the wing of a Newell’s Shearwater during the 2022 E Ho`opomaika`o Ia Na Manu `A`o, also known as the Annual Newell’s Shearwater Release Blessing, at Lydgate Park. This event is an annual release and celebration of rehabilitated fledgling shearwaters. Capt. Brett Stevenson, commanding officer of Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands, was in attendance. PMRF is the world’s largest instrumented multi-environment range capable of supporting surface, subsurface, air and space operations simultaneously.
