GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Oct. 19, 2022) Cmdr. Joshua Oakes, commanding officer of Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Mid America, congratulates recruits with the 64th Annual Recruit Cardinal Division who completed their evaluation aboard USS Trayer (BST 21) at Recruit Training Command, Oct. 19, 2022. Trayer, more commonly referred to as "Battle Stations," is the crucible event that recruits must pass prior to graduation, testing their knowledge and skills in basic seamanship, damage control, firefighting, and emergency response procedures. Cardinal Division is named after the St. Louis Cardinals, who along with NTAG Mid America, has sponsored such groups annually since 1958, and is the U.S. Navy’s longest-running special recruit division.
