Kenneth Whitesell, Commander, U.S. Naval Air Forces, addresses Sailors assigned to the “Titans” of Fleet Multi-Mission Squadron (VRM) 30, during an award ceremony held aboard Naval Air Station North Island, Oct. 20, 2022. During the ceremony, the “Titans,” along with the “Merlins” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3 and the “Black Knights” of HSC-4, received the 2021 Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Aviation Safety Award. Also known as the Safety “S” award, the distinction is awarded annually to those Navy and Marine Corps commands that have demonstrated exceptional and sustained safety excellence.
