U.S. Senator for North Carolina Thom Tillis and members of his staff visited Fort Bragg, N.C. on Oct. 24, 2022, to engage with Soldiers and spouses that have been affected by inadequate housing, child development center, and the conditions of the installation’s facilities. Tillis toured the recently vacated Smoke Bomb Hill Barracks and conducted a briefing with senior leadership on Fort Bragg. Tillis met with spouses, community leaders, and installation representatives to transparently solicit their input. As of Oct. 22, all 1,189 Soldiers who previously resided in the Smoke Bomb Hill barracks have been relocated to alternative barracks on post or moved off the installation into community residential housing. Army leaders remain committed to improving adequate housing and safe facilities for our Soldiers and their families. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Joshua Cowden, 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
