U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam’s marine inspectors discuss observed emergency drills aboard the 370-foot Tuvalu-flagged motor vessel Kenyo during a port state control exam in the Port of Guam on Oct. 19 and 20, 2022. This was the Kenyo’s first visit to a U.S. port meaning it must be assessed prior to departure. Port state control is the inspection of foreign-flagged ships in national ports to verify that the ship's material condition and equipment comply with domestic and international security, safety, and environmental standards and that the ship is crewed and operated in compliance with these rules.
