Rebekah Booton, USACE drone pilot and Huntington District engineer technician, left, and Molly Holt, USACE infrastructure team civil engineer and Charleston District employee, fly a drone on Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Oct. 29. Booton was supporting the USACE infrastructure team that is conducting Applied Technology Council – 45, or ATC-45, infrastructure assessments on the island. USACE officials, along with local county officials, are supporting the state of Florida and FEMA by assessing buildings to ensure they are safe. The use of drones allows engineers to view structural areas that may be unsafe to physically inspect.
