Fort Buchanan received no major damages remaining operational during the emergency with limited access depending on weather conditions as Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico September 18, 2022, as a Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane winds caused fallen trees and debris throughout the installation while increase in water levels was evident. Some areas flooded due to ground saturation.
