Maj. Ryan E. Goulet (right) and 1st Lt. Michael A. Renard, both assigned to U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) go over techniques and procedures of the M18A1 Claymore before testing for the Expert Soldier Badge (ESB) on Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy, Nov. 7, 2022. The ESB is a special skills badge that is awarded to U.S. military personnel and NATO military personnel who successfully complete a set of qualification test, including both written and performance portions. The E3B is a combined event that will test Soldier’s skills to achieve the Expert Infantry Badge, Expert Soldier Badge or the Expert Field Medical Badge. This is the first E3B hosted at SETAF-AF with competitors from SETAF-AF, 173rd Airborne Brigade, 509th Strategic Signal Battalion, U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, units from U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command and service members from Spain, Croatia and Italy.
