Students fabricate dental appliances during classes at the Medical Education and Training Center (METC), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, October 20, 2022. The METC on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, trains enlisted medical professionals in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. One of METC’s 48 programs of instruction is the multi-service Dental Laboratory Technology program in which Army, Navy, and Air Force students learn how to fabricate complete dentures, Removable Partial Dentures (RPD) and treatment appliances, crowns and bridges, metal-ceramic restorations, and dental implants using both analog and digital dental technology processing methods. Graduates of the program wishing to pursue an academic degree can utilize the METC Degree Bridge Program, which applies college credit for military training and work experience.
