NEW YORK (Nov. 11, 2022) - Service members and veterans participate in the wreath laying ceremony at the Eternal Light Flagstaff at Madison Square Park prior to the New York Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, 2022. On Veterans Day we recognize and remember all of those who have served in the military past and present. This week, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Lawrence O. Lawson (WPC-1120) and USS Arlington (LPD-24), a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, are visiting New York for Veterans Week. Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen are participating in a variety of events in and around the city to honor the service and sacrifice of the nation’s veterans. Events include the annual New York City Veterans Day Parade, a wreath laying ceremony, participating in the New York Giants Salute to Service game, volunteering at the New York State Veterans Home in Queens and observations of Marine Corps Birthday around the city.
