Marcus Seeger, commanding officer of Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), monitors a 5-inch live-fire gunnery exercise, part of Keen Sword in the Philippine Sea, Nov. 13. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad Japan-U.S. alliance.
