Participants take part in a simulated a small boat attack probe during the Keen Sword 2023 exercise onboard Comander, Fleet activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Keen Sword is a joint-bilateral biennial training exercise involving U.S. Forces and the Japan Self-Defense Force designed to help promote peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region by strengthening the U.S.-Japan alliance and enhancing participants interoperability. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
