PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 10, 2022) Sonar Technician (Surface) 3rd Class Chris Johnson, from Summerville, South Carolina, monitors sonar from the main sonar room aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65) during a joint bilateral anti-submarine exercise, part of Keen Sword in the Philippine Sea, Nov. 10. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad Japan-U.S. alliance.
