NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 23, 2022) Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic Rear Adm. Brendan McLane and Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Elizabeth Rodriguez participate in a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the newly installed additive manufacturing equipment in the ship’s former balloon inflation room, Nov. 23, 2022. This is the first Naval Sea Systems Command-sponsored Hybrid system installed on a U.S. Navy ship and will permit the capability to additive manufacture metal and plastic components locally.
