U.S. Marines and Sailors with Expeditionary Strike Group 2 and Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces Northern Command, attend a conference meeting discussing a visit to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), Joint Expeditionary Base–Little Creek, Virginia, Nov. 29, 2022. Historically, LHD 7 was launched on Feb. 4, 2000, and was christened by its sponsor, Mrs. Zandra Krulak, wife of Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Krulak, Pascagoula, Mississippi, March 25, 2000. The visit served as an opportunity to bring cohesion to both commands' combined efforts and align respective subordinate commands in this progressive step for Navy and Marine Corps integration.
