On December 5, 2022, students from Swansboro High School visited Marine Corps Engineering School on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The STEM program, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, is a nationwide program to introduce school age children to careers in these areas. The tour was the second visit coordinated by Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune's STEM Program Coordinator, U.S. Navy Lieutenant Adam Rondina. Earlier this month, students visited NMCCL for an introduction to opportunities in the medical field.

During the visit with MCES, students received hands-on demonstrations from Marine Corps instructors in areas of generator and environmental controls, and water analysis. The students learned how engineering proper infrastructure alleviates public health concerns.
