    Command, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography

    SYDNEY, Australia (Nov. 10, 2022) - Representatives from Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command visited HMAS Penguin for a tour of Australian Navy Hydrography capabilities and missions during a visit to Australia, Nov 10. While there they received several briefings and viewed static displays that showcased the Australian Hydrographic Office’s capability and mission sets. In addition, Rear Adm. Ron Piret, Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two navies for further collaboration with Commodore Stewart Dunne, Director General Maritime Geospatial and Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organization. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command directs and oversees more than 2,500 globally-distributed military and civilian personnel who collect, process and exploit environmental information to assist Fleet and Joint Commanders in all warfare areas to make better decisions faster than the adversary.
