The legend of St. Barbara as she is known to be the patron saint of artillerymen, a day that those celebrate and amongst the 1-178th FA BN which have a rich history and share the same pride and devotion to community service as a citizen-soldier that their forefathers displayed when they followed the “Swamp Fox” Francis Marion into the swamps of the low-country of South Carolina, helped “The Gamecock” Thomas Sumter at the High Hills of Santee, and stood with Andrew Pickens at the Battle of Cowpens.
