U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Michael A. Moore, the oncoming sergeant major with 7th Communication Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, receives the sword of office from Lt. Col. William J. Matkins, commanding officer of 7th COMM Bn., III MIG, during a relief and appointment ceremony on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 9, 2022. Sgt. Maj. Thomas W. Tabisz transferred the office of the sergeant to Sgt. Maj. Michael A. Moore. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific regions information environment, and supports Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities.
