Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael J. Spicer, tactical unmanned aerial systems operations technician with 5th Armored Brigade, First Army Division West, tested counter unmanned aerial systems developed by Steelrock Technology to gain knowledge on evolving advanced technology that will deter and engage the growing threat posed by unmanned aerial vehicles. Spicer successfully disengaged drones at distances upwards of eight kilometers with a range of scenarios from military and government buildings to ships, airfields, and compounds.

The Nightfighter anti-drone systems increase range and increase the breadth of coverage to not only encounter and deal with standard commercial drones, but also custom drones accurately and precisely disabling them.

The Army's modernization plan is ensuring that its Soldiers have the necessary training, equipment, and leadership to conduct multi-domain operations alongside allies to defeat any adversary. The 5th Armored Brigade examines how its Soldiers operate in contested environments while maintaining power at the tactical edge.
