An E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft is refueled by a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, refuels an E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control system aircraft over Romania, Dec. 8, 2022. The AWACS aircraft, out of NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen, Germany, provides surveillance, command, control and communications needed by NATO and other allied air defense forces.
