PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov 18, 2022) - U.S. Navy Sailors halt a Marine Corps F-35B Lighting II pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, before takeoff aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 18, 2022. The Navy-Marine Corps team, capable of both rapid response and sustained operations globally, remains America's most persistent and versatile military instrument. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
