U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Chase Burningham, a Marine Science Technician who works at Air Station Kodiak, dons his Santa outfit before flying with the air station and members of the Spouse’s Association of Kodiak to Larsen Bay, Alaska, where they handed out presents to students and teachers, Dec. 5, 2022. The Santa to the Villages event began in 1974 when a Coast Guard pilot noticed that children in Kodiak’s remote villages had limited opportunities to interact with Santa and receive gifts.
