SAN DIEGO (Nov. 8, 2022) - U.S. Marines and Sailors man the rails aboard USS Makin Island (LHD 8) as the ship gets underway, Nov. 8, 2022. The Navy-Marine Corps team, capable of both rapid response and sustained operations globally, remains America's most persistent and versatile military instrument. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship Makin Island and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
