    13th Marine Expeditionary Unit   

    PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 6, 2022) – U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Ivan Martinez, an avionics technician with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 362 (Reinforced), 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, connects an Intrepid Tiger-2 to a UH-1Y Venom aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) prior to a counterintelligence surveillance and reconnaissance targeting exercise, Dec. 6. A force in readiness, the 13th MEU trains to rapidly respond to crises in all domain environments through naval power projection. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport dock ships USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), and operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force to defend peace and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
