PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 6, 2022) - U.S. Marine Corps pilots with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 362 (Rein.), 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fly toward amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) in an MV-22B Osprey, Dec. 6. A force in readiness, 13th MEU pilots continuously train to stay current in their qualifications, which allows them to rapidly respond to crises in all domain environments through naval power projection. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of the Makin Island and amphibious transport dock ships USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), and operating in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force to defend peace and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
