Command Master Chief (AW/SS) Jeremy Konopka, originally from Pensacola, FL, entered the Navy in January 1995. After completing recruit training at Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Electronics Technician “A” school in Groton, CT.
His first assignment was USS Boston (SSN-703) in Groton, CT as a member of communications division where he completed a Northern, Anti-Drug Operations, and Unitas Deployments. His tour concluded with a change of homeport and decommissioning in Pearl Harbor, HI and advancement to Second Class Petty Officer. In January 1999, he reported to Submarine Group 10 in Kings Bay GA for duty on the Watch Floor. Here he was advanced to First Class and completed Communications Watch Officer qualifications.
In January 2003, he attended Journeyman Electronics and Computer Networking training in Groton, CT where he finished top of his class.
His next assignment was to USS Memphis (SSN-691) in Groton, CT. Here he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He completed multiple deployments and his division won the Green “C” for communications excellence.
In July 2008, he reported to Submarine Squadron 15 in Guam as the Communications Assistant. Shortly after reporting, he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. After completion of Command Qualifications in January 2012, he attended the Senior Enlisted Academy and COB/CMC course in Newport, RI before reporting to USS Henry M Jackson (SSN-730) Gold as Chief of the Boat. Here he completed five strategic deterrent patrols and was advanced to Master Chief and selected as a Command Master Chief.
He completed Command Master Chief tours at VFA-192 in Lemoore, CA, Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Jacksonville and as Base CMC at Joint Base Charleston, SC.
Presently, CMDCM Konopka is the Command Master Chief for Commander, Navy Recruiting Command, Millington, Tennessee.
Command Master Chief Konopka earned his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
