Cadet Josh Savage, United States Air Force Academy student, and Capt. AJ Hein, 3rd Airlift Squadron pilot, complete an external pre-flight check on a C-17 Globemaster III before taking off for a local training flight at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, Jan. 4, 2023. Aircrew from the 3rd AS train regularly to maintain optimal mission readiness to support global airlift. This local training mission enabled aircrew from the 9th AS to retrieve a C-5M Super Galaxy from Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts, where it was serviced in the isochronal dock.
